Made from the naturally occurring mineral, gypsum (calcium sulfate), these desiccants maintain a dry atmosphere in storage spaces, vaults, commercial packages, and other enclosures. They also offer protection of hygroscopic materials or materials subject to mildew, corrosion, rust, or other deterioration caused by high humidity. Several varieties are available to solve all types of drying problems. Choose indicating or non-indicating desiccant.
Indicating desiccant is impregnated with cobalt chloride. It starts as a blue color when dry and changes to pink upon absorption of moisture. This allows you to know that dryness is being maintained and signals when the drying agent should be replaced.
Nonindicating desiccant features neutral pH, constant in volume, chemically inert except toward water, insoluble in organic liquids and refrigerants, non-disintegrating, non-wetting, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-channeling, generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA, not regulated by OSHA, and is economical to use.
