If you don't need super accuracy (1/2ml increments) they do the trick. With the low cost, it's nice to just pitch them and not have to clean them after use.

These are inexpensive disposable "eye droppers". Yes, you can approximate a ml with them but its not super accurate. A good buy.

Will this pipette work with organic solvent MTBE?
I have a narrow graduated 15 ml glass tube. There are two immiscible layers in the tube. Bottom layer is sodium sulfate solution. Top layer is MTBE solvent from EPA HAA method 552.3. Can I use this bulb to withdraw the bottom inorganic solution? I am worried if the material will be affected by the top MTBE layer?
If not, which glass transfer pipette and a suitable automatic pipettor can I use to withdraw ~7 ml solution from the bottom?

This pipette is made of LDPE. It may be compatible with this solvent, but we do not have specific chemical compatibility information for this specific solvent. A glass pipette would be a better option for your application. Any 10 mL glass pipette, such as item 4568-27, will be compatible.

The pipettes are made of a LDPE. based on the chemical compatibility information we have on file there will be no issues with the Naptha up to a temperature of 72°F (22°C)but with the paraffin there will be a minor effect and you may see some discoloration and corrosion. We would still recommend that you test this as well.

Yes, this pipette is LDPE. It gets a "B" rating (minor effect) with Xylene and a "D" rating (severe effect) with Benzene. You'll want to use glass pasteur pipettes with cotton plugs instead. Please see 25554-16 as an example. These require reusable bulbs, which is why plugs are important. Please see 44222-06 for a 10 mL bulb.

Neither HDPE or LDPE are compatible with Nitric Acid at any concentration. Glass pipettes should be used instead, for example 25554-02 with a bulb like 44222-04. Unfortunately simple glass pipettes like this do not have graduations for volume, but are intended for small volume transfer.

I would like to know if the material used in these pipettes, LDPE, is compatible with ~50% hydrofluoric acid. I do not see LDPE listed in the chemical compatibility database.

We do not have compatibility on 50% HF, but our database shows LDPE to have excellent compatibility with 48% HF.

Fluid temperatures should not exceed 80C with these LDPE pipettes. For help in selecting a pipette that may work for your application (like glass since it can withstand higher temperatures) please contact us by phone or email. We will need to know the specific temperature requirements you have. Contact information may be found under the "Contact/About Us" tab.

These are not sold sterile. The pipette is made from LDPE resin which can be sterilized by gas, radiation or disinfectants, but not by autoclave.
