Safety Sign Posting Guide

To determine when and where to post different types of safety signs follow these general guidelines:

"DANGER" Sign

Use the "DANGER" sign to alert employees and visitors of extremely hazardous situations that have a high probability of death or severe injury.

"WARNING" Sign

Use the "WARNING" sign to alert employees and visitors of hazardous situations that have some probability of death or severe injury.

"CAUTION" Sign

Use the "CAUTION" sign to alert employees and visitors of hazardous situations that may result in a minor or moderate injury. This sign should not be used when there is a possibility of death or serious injury.

"NOTICE" Sign

Use the "NOTICE" sign to inform employees and visitors of company policy relating directly or indirectly to personal safety or the protection of property. This sign should not be used to indicate hazardous conditions and must not be used in place of "DANGER", "WARNING", or "CAUTION" signs.
