Dry break prevents unwanted spills

Cole-Parmer Instrument Company introduces a new, non-spill coupling designed to eliminate product waste and reduce cleanup time.

Available in sizes from 3/8" to 3/4", and as NPT, BSP, barbed, or compression inserts, the patent-pending non-spill coupling features shutoff valves that enhance operator safety and reduce connection time. The units are made from glass-filled polypropylene with 316 stainless steel springs and EPDM (or optional FKM) O-ring seals, providing high resistance to a wide range of corrosive media. An olefin overmolding, which increases durability and provides a better grip, can be used for color-coding, providing instant visual identification of separate media lines. Thumblatch allows for secure, single-handed operation, while an audible "click" confirms that a secure connection is made.

Coupling withstands operating pressures from vacuum to 8.3 bar and temperatures from 0 to 49°C. The coupling features terminations of 1/2" OD compression, 3/8" and 1/2" ID hose barb, and 1/2" male NPT thread and 1/2" male BSPT thread. Mounting options include inline, pipe thread and sealing panel mount.

The distinctive dry break valve design makes this coupling ideal for use in printing and labeling, chemical handling, electronic cooling, and instrumentation applications.
