The pump head and pump motor work very well to pump water to the tanks in our research exposure system. We like being able to use silicone rubber as the only material to contact our water.

One of the most important things is the service that Cole-Parmer provides. They are a professional group that cares about the customer and I appreciate that.

We use this product in our R&D lab almost every day. We purchased it for a specific test where we required extreme accuracy over a wide flow rate range with minimal pressure fluctuation for a highly sensitive fluid. We found it to function so well that we replaced almost all the pumps in the lab with the Masterflex system.

We're using this pump with 17/24 tubing to pump a lipid suspension through a continious sonication flow cell for solubilization. The temperature of the suspension is approx. 50°C. Unfortunately after a while (about 10 minutes) there are black particles from the tubing in the suspension. Also lately I'm getting a lot of error codes (3 or 5) and I have to restart the pump. How do I solve this issue?

                A:

This is a pump head only and not the actual drive. We would need to know the drive model number and tubing formulation being used. Based on the initial information provided, this pump head cannot accept size L/S 17 tubing. That may be a potential issue. Please contact our technical application specialists for additional assistance (contact information can be found in the "contact us" section on the web page).

We have a 77200-62 Easy Load II pump head on a 7520-00 pump. The pump fell off the tailgate during use and broke the bottom of the plastic housing on the lower section which supports the rotor and tubing. Is that part available for order? Thanks for any help you can provide.

This is not a replaceable part. The only replaceable parts are the rotor assembly and the tubing retainers (tube holding doors on the inlet and outlet). .

              Hello,
We just received the Masterflex L/S Easy-Load II pump. And for some reason we have differences when filling 1/2 oz and 2 oz bottles. We have calibrated the machine constantly but it doesn't improved the operation. We are using a LS 17 tubing. I don't understand why we have differences. The length of the tubing is the same for both heads.
              Please advice
              thanks

                A:

The 77200-62 is meant for use with High-Performance precision tubing sizes L/S 15, L/S 24, L/S 35, & L/S 36. The use of other tubes sizes will produce unpredictable flow rates. In addition to the tube size, there are a couple of things to consider. First, if both heads are mounted onto the same drive, our test Lab data shows that in most cases there is a difference in flow rates between two or more identical pumps simultaneously mounted on one drive. The difference averages around 5%, but could be as much as 10%. This is due to the fact that there is a 45° offset from one pump head shaft to the next. You may use a flow regulator to get better accuracy. Second, peristaltic pump tubing show a distinct increase in flow stability after the first few minutes of pumping. During this break-in period the tubing adapts to the repeated compression of the rollers. For tubing in the L/S sizes, the break-in period is 10 to 15 minutes. This should be done before calibration.

I am in University of Alberta doing research on oil emulsions. We have 77200-62 with us and working well. I wish to introduce a flow regulator valve in the supply line of the pump. Can we introduce that for flow regulation?.

                A:

Generally the flow is regulated by the speed of the drive. Putting a regulator in place could cause back pressure build-up and other problems (like higher frequency of tubing changes and tubing ruptures. Please call to discuss further.
If you are trying to reduce pulsation we may want to look at multiple heads, or a pulse dampener.

            • Q:

I currently have an L/S easy load II pump head with a L/S 36 tube size and I just don't seem to have enough volume through it for what I am doing. Is there a larger tube size I can use for more flow or will I need to get a bigger pump head. If I need a bigger pump will I also need to get a bigger motor.

With a size 26 tubing, this pump head, and ideal conditions with water-like fluids you should see about 2900 mL/min with a 600 rpm maximum drive. Please call for further assistance with details of the complete system and situation you have, as well as the specifications you would like to see.

Yes, these can be stacked to accommodate 6 channels. You will need to order different mounting hardware to stack the heads. For 6 channels (mounting 3 heads), please order 77200-03. Please see our website for current pricing and availability.
