Cole-Parmer UK offers a range of gear pumps suitable for dispensing, metering and general transfer applications. Gear pumps deliver smooth, pulseless, accurate and repeatable flow. The gear pump can be run for long periods between maintenance making them suitable for continuous duty applications. Cole-Parmer’s gear pumps can deliver 0.1 ml/min to 225 LPM and deliver pressures up to 6.8 bar.

A gear pump consists of two or more rotating gears which mesh together. One of the gears is turned by a power source and drives the other gears. The spaces between the gear teeth carry the fluid from the inlet to the outlet whilst the gear mesh point prevents fluid from returning to the inlet.

Cole-Parmer offer a range of gear pumps suitable for use in lab, pilot plant, process and OEM applications. Use Cole-Parmer’s on-line catalogue to find and compare pump specifications. Alternatively contact our Application Specialists for free technical support and let us bring over 50 years of pumping experience to help solve your application needs.

Advantages for gear pumps

  • Smooth, pulseless flow
  • Good accuracy and repeatability
  • Choice of inert wetted parts including 316 stainless steel, PTFE and Hastelloy
  • Many control options including manual, analogue, computer via RS-232 interface

Advantages for Micropump gear pumps
Cole-Parmer offer a range of gear pump heads from Micropump that are magnetically coupled to the drive. In addition to the normal advantages of a gear pump, Micropump gear pump heads also offer:

  • Micropump gear pump heads are magnetically coupled to the drive to offer leak-free pumping solutions
  • Available in either a cavity or suction style gear pump head
    • Select the suction shoe pump head for metering application due to its self adjustment capability to maintain near zero slip
    • Select cavity heads for maximum operating life
  • Prevent over-loading of your system by selecting a Micropump gear pump head with an internal bypass
  • Choice of mounting options to allow them to connect to Cole-Parmer, Ismatec drives or a standard NEMA 56C motor

Typical Application for gear pumps

  • Chemical Processing – including filtration applications and analysis equipment
  • Energy and Fuels – precision water addition, water recirculation in fuel cells and pipeline sampling
  • Industrial – dispensing of chemicals and additives in water treatment, paper production and cooling applications
  • Laboratory – general transfer and sample delivery which requires smooth flow
  • Paints & Inks – pulseless delivery in industrial ink jet printers and colour mixing
  • Pharmaceutical – filling and dispensing applications requiring pulseless flow
