Diaphragm pump technology uses the force of a flexible diaphragm to displace liquid with each stroke. Using this principle, Cole-Parmer’s range of diaphragm pumps are able to transfer liquids with a flow rate of 0.07 mL/min to 560 LPM and pressures up to 30 bar.
Cole-Parmer offer three types of diaphragm pump technology with varying characteristics:
|
Solenoid Diaphragm Pump
- Flow rates – 0.08 mL/min to 250 LPH
- Pressures up to 17.3 bar
- Use for controlled metering and dosing applications
Solenoid diaphragm pumps are known as metering pumps as they provide precise control of flow rates delivering from 0.08 ml/min up to 4,167 ml/min with pressures up to 17.3 bar. Our range includes manual and digital adjustable stroke lengths and stroke frequency to enable flow control. Pump models are available with external triggers and input control options and come in a variety of materials for the internals parts as well as the housing. These pumps requires no seals so you can pump abrasives and slurries if the valves are kept clean |

Positive Displacement Diaphragm Pump
- Flow rates to 64 LPM
- Pressures up to 30 bar
- Use for general transfer and spraying applications
These types of diaphragm pumps are known as positive displacement pumps as they deliver a definite volume of liquid using one or two flexible diaphragms for each cycle of pump operation. Ideal for general transfer and spraying applications, our range can offer flow rates of up to 64 LPM, pressures up to 30 bar and with material options to allow compatibility with corrosive liquids. Many of our diaphragm pumps include factory set pressure limits to either shut the pump off or open a by-pass circuit within the pump to protect the pump and system from damage. |

Air Operated Diaphragm Pump
- Flow rates to 560 LPM
- Pressures up to 8.3 bar
- Use for general transfer applications and are ideal for transferring viscous and slurry media.
Air operated diaphragm pumps are often referred to as a AOD pumps or AODD pumps. They use the same technology as positive displacement diaphragm pumps however they contain no heat generating electrical components allowing safe, explosion-proof operation in hazardous areas. Used extensively in the food and paints industry for general transfer applications they are able to deliver flow rates up to 560 LPM. AOD pumps have the ability to handle low to high viscosity fluids and even particulates. They have the ability to self prime and are available in a variety of materials including PTFE and stainless steel. |
