Cole Parmer UK offers a range of laboratory furnaces that are able to cover a range of temperatures up to 1600 oC and capacities up to 22 litres. Our ranges of lab furnaces are ideal for applications including heat treating, reacting studies, sintering processes and ceramic firing.

Important specifications to consider when searching for a laboratory furnace include the process temperature, control requirements, dimensions of sample and inner dimensions of chamber or tube, and pressure range.

Cole-Parmer offers a choice of laboratory furnaces styles including ashing furnace, box or muffle furnace, tube furnace and vacuum furnaces. View our range of laboratory furnaces below or contact one of our application specialists for free support to help find the right product to best suit your needs.

Laboratory Muffle Furnace
These furnaces integrate traditional and modern material to product a combination of performance and reliability. Applications include use in many research facilities for example by chemists in order to bake the moisture out of a sample to ensure it is completely dry.

High temperature box furnace

Ashing furnace
Ashing is also referred to as charring. It is the process where a sample is heated until the only substance remaining is a non-combustible ash. This ash is then analysed for its elemental composition normally via the technique of graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry

Tube furnace
A tube furnace heats a tube, typically 0.5 to 1m in length. Samples are placed in the tube and if required a thermocouple inserted in to the tube. One of the main advantages tube furnaces have over other types of furnaces is the ends of the tubes usually protrude from the end of the furnace. As these ends do not get very hot a variety of adapters can be placed on the ends. This allows reactions to be carried out under controlled atmosphere (eg. pure oxygen, nitrogen and CO/CO2) by setting up gas flow in one end of the tube.

Additional options on tube furnaces include multi zone, meaning that that the tube furnace has multiple heating elements that can be individually controlled. This is important for techniques such as vapour transport synthesis or chemical vapour deposition. Multi-position furnaces allow the chamber to be angled or slowly rotated which can aide slow cooling or crystal growth.
